Micron 2018: Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology, Adhiparasakthi Dental College & Hospital, conducted a CDE programme on Wednesday 10.10.2018. A total number of 21 colleges from all over Tamilnadu and Pondicherry participated in the CDE programme. 340 delegates (40 Faculties, 300 Students) registered and attended the programme.
- The guest of honour was Prof. Dr. T. R. Saraswathi, Retd. Principal Incharge, Government dental college, Tamilnadu. She is the first women dental surgeon to hold the post of principal in charge of the Government dental college in the state of Tamilnadu. She was honoured with life time achievement award by Governor of Tamilnadu on behalf of Dr. MGR medical University.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting of kuthuvilakku by Prof. Dr. S. Thillainayagam, M.D.S., Principal of APDCH, Guest of honour and the Guest speakers.
Prof. Dr. S. Shamala Ravikumar delivered the welcome address. The Principal of APDCH Prof. Dr. S. Thillainayagam and the Guest of honour Prof. Dr. T. R. Saraswathi addressed the gathering. The Principal of APDCH Prof. Dr. S. Thillainayagam felicitated the Guest of honour and the guest speakers. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. K. Dhivya, Reader, Dept. Of Oral Pathology & Microbiology, APDCH.
Guest speaker Prof. Dr. J. Thanka, gave an elaborate lecture on ‘Cytology – Basics to Recent concepts’.
Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Joshua gave an interactive and informative lecture on ‘Grossing of specimen: A necessity for accurate diagnoses. She also explained rare grossing reports in detail.
Prof. Dr. T. Rooban, gave an extensive lecture on ‘A – Z of article writing and publication’.
After the guest lectures, scientific sessions were held. Total of 26 scientific e-posters (PG – 19, UG – 7) were presented in 3 different halls. The scientific presentations were judged by eminent Oral Pathologists from various colleges. Each PG session was awarded with 1st and 2nd prizes. Overall 2 best UG posters and 3 best PG posters in each category – Research, Case report and Review were awarded.
The lectures were deeply appreciated by all the delegates. The programme created a great impact on enriching and enhancing the knowledge in the speciality among under-graduates, post-graduates and oral pathologists.
