National Service Scheme (NSS) is a permanent Youth Programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Adhiparasakthi dental college & Hospital NSS wing works with the following objectives:

Field Visit to Waste Recycling Plant

The student volunteers from Adhiparasakthi dental college & Hospital were taken for a field visit to Waste recycling plant at achirupakkam ON 19/12/2019. The studenst were explained about the segregation and various methods of decomposting of degradable waste in making fertilisers & recycling of non degradable waste.

  

Road Safety Awareness Week – 28 Jan 2020

The NSS road safety awareness week was conducted  for  450 students and staffs in the Adhiparasakthi Dental College and Hospital auditorium. The program was conducted from 2.00pm to 3.30pm on 28.1.2020. The chief guest was the Inspector of Acharapakkam Police station Mr D.S Saravanan. The guests of honor were G.M.R Prasad(Road safety in charge for Paranoor Thozupedu toll plaza) and Mr Guna( Emergency and Trauma Care team Incharge of Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research).

   

Women’s Day Celebrations – 2020

NSS Day in association with Women Welfare Committee and Studdent Welfare committee organized Women’s Day Celebrations in our college on 16th March 2020. The celebrations took place at Platinum Jubillee Auditorium, Academic Block, APDCH. Our beloved correspondent Sir graced the occasion  and our respected Principal Madam delivered the welcome address. All women HODs along with women non teaching  staffs were honoured with a gift from our correspondent Dr.T.Ramesh M.D. Few male faculties volunteered themselves to walk up to the podium and gave a speech about women empowerment & role of women in society growth. The event ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof.Dr.B.Hemasathya Mam, MDS., Chairperson of Students’ Welfare Committee.  Around 250 staffs and students attended the program.

Environment Week Celebrations 01/06/2020-05/06/2020

The following activities were conducted in Adhiparasakthi Dental College and Hospital during Environment Week Celebrations from 1st June, 2020 to 5th June, 2020 by involving staff members at college and students through online mode of communication. The five-day celebrations commenced with the announcement of various competitions under the theme “BIODIVERSITY” and concluded with World Environment Day on 05.06.2020. Due to COVID-19, the students and staff members were informed about Environment Week activities through electronic communication methods like Email and WhatsApp.

Announcement of various competitions on the theme – “BIODIVERSITY”

As per guidance by Correspondent and Principal, various competitions were conducted for UG students, Interns and PG students. Interested teaching and non-teaching staff members were also encouraged to participate in the competitions. A student or faculty were allowed to participate in more than one category. The competitions include:

Painting / Pencil sketch

Video (English and Tamil)

The students and staff members were announced about the competitions through WhatsApp groups and their respective in-charges

WEBINAR – Biodiversity In Practice: What Environmental Professionals Are Doing to Enhance their Environment

In order to emphasize on preserving biodiversity around us, the faculty members of Adhiparasakthi Dental College and Hospital were encouraged to register for a Webinar titled Biodiversity In Practice: What Environmental Professionals Are Doing to Enhance their Environment.  Thirty four faculty members have registered for this webinar. On 2nd June, 2020, a reminder was given to all the registered participants about the webinar. The available faculty members attended the webinar at lecture hall – 3 with social distancing.

The webinar session took place between 2.30pm to 3.30pm. This webinar focussed on three organisations – Anglian Water, Arup and Canary Wharf Group. This webinar explained about what actions the three organisations have taken to enhance biodiversity in their respective environment. This was followed by panel discussion which raised questions on what can be done to improve biodiversity. The whole session was chaired by the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).

World Bicycle Day

As a part of Environment Week celebrations, World Bicycle Day was celebrated on 03.06.2020. A video was created which described the evolution of bicycle, the advantages of using bicycles. The video also gave an insight into the cycling routine in and around the college campus. The available faculty members were educated about the advantages of bicycle in improving health, economy and environment. They were encouraged to use bicycles for commuting in and around the college campus.

Nss Day Celebration 2020

NSS day is celebrated on 24th September of every year since 1969 marking the centenary birthday of Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi . NSS TEAM of Adhiparasakthi Dental College & Hospital , organized “ NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME DAY” on 24/09/2020 (Thursday).  The event was inaugurated by Principal Prof Dr .A.Vasantha Kumari. The annual report of NSS committee was presented by Dr.R.Sumanth Kumar, NSS Chairperson.  Dr Dr. E. Premkumar member secretary of NSS team addressed the gathering and introduced our chief guest Dr.M.Babu Selva Durai M.A,M.Ed,M.Phil,D.Litt, CONVENER of Junior Red Cross, Villupuram district. Dr.M.Babu Selva Durai gave a service oriented motivational talk addressing the youth on “Role of Youth in Social Structure.” The speaker was felicitated with E-Certificate by our Principal. Dr. Rajeswary Reader of Public health department concluded the session with vote of thanks. Around 100 students participated online and 55 staffs and students attended the the live session at lecture hall 3.

  

The Global Handwashing Day 2020

The Global Handwashing Day was celebrated on 15.10.2020 under the theme “Hand Hygiene for All”. This event was jointly organised by our college NABH, NSS and YRC committees.Our respected Principal, Prof. Dr. A. Vasantha kumari presided over the event. Teaching and Non-teaching staff members and out-patients participated in this event. Welcome address was given by Dr.R.Sumanth Kumar, Reader, Department of Orthodontics. The hand hygiene technique was demonstrated to the patients by NABH team. The pamphlets about hand hygiene were distributed to the patients. The patients were made to wash their hands before and after visiting the dentist under the supervision of NABH team. A video depicting the hand hygiene technique was released by our Principal. The students were encouraged to participate in a video contest creating awareness about hand hygiene. E-certificates were awarded for the best entries. The non-teaching staff members were closely monitored about their hand hygiene and those practising the correct technique were awarded a badge and E- Certificate.

  

World Cyclist Day 2021

The world cyclist day is celebrated on 3rd June every year. The student volunteers actively took part in cycling event in their respective hometowns to encourage active use of cycle as a mode of transport. This not only ensures fit india but also contributes to create a greener environment.

  

World Environment Day 2021

World environment day was celebrated on 05/06/2021 based on the theme ” Environment Restoration ” . Considering the prevailing Covid situation, The NSS committee encouraged online poster awareness competition for students on the theme. Student volunteers enthusiastically took part in the event to create awareness about environment restoration.

  

International Yoga Day 2021

The International Yoga Day-2021 was celebrated on 21/06/2021(Monday) with a global theme on “Yoga for health benefits”. National Service Scheme of Adhiparasakthi dental college & Hospital conducted online Yoga competition for undergraduate students of 3rd, 4th year and CRIs. The students actively participated in the competition by creating a video and posters on theme “Yoga for health benefits”. The online participation of the students amidst the pandemic was highly appreciated.

NSS Day 2021

On 24th September 2021 NSS day was celebrated in our college by the NSS committee marking the centenary birthday of Father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi under the guidance of our beloved Principal Dr. S Karthiga Kannan. The theme for this year NSS day was “Covid vaccination awareness”. There was an active participation of all undergraduate students and staffs to make this programme a success. The Principal Dr.S.Karthiga Kannan gave a speech on importance of NSS day. The student volunteers addressed the various  NSS activities and role of students in NSS. An awareness video signifying the importance of covid vaccination was made by Student Volunteers was released by the Principal as a part of celebration. This video along with placard and also query desk  was available through out the day to resolve doubts and clarification on Covid Vaccination to all the patients. Student volunteers actively participated in Covid Vaccination Awareness poster competition and the winners were awarded with Certificate.

 

Declamation Contest 2021

A district level declamation contest on Topic” Patriotism & Nation Building” was organised by Ministry of Youth Affairs and NSS wing, Madras Christian College on 4/12/2021.

9 students from Adhiparasakthi Dental College & Hospital participated enthusiastically in this event.
