Youth Red Cross

Youth Red Cross (YRC) is an integral part of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) and helps to implement the Fundamental Principles of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, namely: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The YRC unit of Adhiparasakthi Dental College and Hospital works with the following objectives:

To inspire, encourage and initiate at all times, all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized, alleviated and even prevented, thus contribute to creating a more congenial climate for peace
To inculcate national integration in the Youth of our country
To create awareness on the care of their own health and that of others
To enable the growth and development of a spirit of service and sense of duty with dedication and devotion in the minds of youth
To encourage the students to extend their humanitarian services to the society.
To develop leadership quality among the students.
To foster better friendly relationship with all without any discrimination

Activities Conducted In College

National Voluntary Blood Donation day

National Voluntary Blood Donation day was celebrated on 01.10.2020 by conducting an orientation programme by Youth Red Cross on voluntary blood donation to save lives. The programme commenced with the prayer song and welcome address. The guest speaker Dr. T. Ramanathan MD, Assistant Professor, Transfusion Medicine, MAPIMS was felicitated. The programme concluded with vote of thanks and National Anthem.

Global Hand washing Day

The Global Hand washing Day was celebrated on 15.10.2020 under the theme “Hand Hygiene for All”, jointly organised by NABH, NSS and YRC committees. Principal Prof. Dr. A. Vasantha kumari presided over the event. Teaching and Non-teaching staff members and out-patients participated. Hand hygiene technique was demonstrated to the patients by NABH team and pamphlets were distributed. The patients followed the hand hygiene technique under the supervision of NABH team. A video depicting the hand hygiene measures was released by our respected Principal. The students were encouraged to participate in a video contest creating awareness on significance of hand hygiene and best student participants were awarded with E-certificate. The best non-teaching performers were appreciated with a badge.

International Volunteers Day

Youth Red Cross and National Service Scheme of APDCH celebrated “International Volunteers Day” on 4th of December 2020 to understand the power and potential of volunteerism. All the Non teaching staffs of APDCH participated in the program and a video focusing on uninterrupted dental services to the outpatients even during this Corona Pandemic period was launched to appreciate the work of college staffs during this crisis time.

World Red Cross Red Crescent Day

The World Red Cross Red Crescent Day was celebrated on 8th May 2021 under the theme “Together we are unstoppable”. Since there are many myths and misconceptions circulating regarding the COVID 19 pandemic, the interns of APDCH were sensitised about COVID 19 infodemic. An awareness about COVID 19 precaution measures was made through their social media accounts under the “Influencers against Infodemic” Campaign. In addition, a total of 30 posters were created by the interns under the guidance of our respected Principal about COVID 19 safety precautions. The student members of Youth Red Cross Unit were also emphasised about their commitment to local community action that is “unstoppable”

World Blood Donor’s Day

In accordance with the World Blood Donor’s Day on June 14, 2021, the Youth Red Cross Committee organised a poster competition for I year and II year BDS students under the theme “Give blood and keep the world beating” emphasizing the importance of safe blood donation. A total of 11 posters were submitted and the best three posters were selected by the Head of the Institution along with the committee members. All the participants were provided with E-Certificates and the winners were appreciated for their distinctive work.

International Youth Day

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) committee organized “International Youth Day” on 12.08.2021 with the theme “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”. Oratorical competitions (English and Tamil) were organised for UG students with the topics “Healthier foods” and “Transforming Food Systems: Reality and Challenges”. The best oration in English and Tamil was then selected. Eight interns participated in a Tamil debate with the topic “Is Youth involvement necessary in agriculture?” and put forth their respective points in front of the judge. The concluding remarks were given by our respected Principal, Dr.A.Vasanthakumari. All the participants and winners were felicitated with E-Certificates.
