The student welfare committee organized an orientation programme “Dent Shiksha 23”for the newly joined first BDS students 2022-23 batch on 04.01.2023. A helping desk and the reception team welcomed the first year BDS students with a gift kit with dental materials. The Student Orientation Small Group Assistants guided them accordingly. The programme was organized at Auditorium, Admin block, APDCH and presided over by our respected correspondent, Dr. T. Ramesh MD and respected principal, Prof. Dr. V. Sudhakar MDS. The chief guest invited was Ms. RJ Ananthi.
The dignitaries were invited to the dais and the programme commenced with the prayer song, Thamizhthaai vaazhthu and lighting of Kuthu vilaku. Dr. T. Ramesh, correspondent felicitated the chief guest and HoDs of basic sciences and dental departments. Dr. V. Sudhakar, Principal gave the welcome address to the gathering and highlighted the tips for successful transition from being a school student to becoming a dentist from APDCH. Dr. James Antony Bhagat MDS, IQAC Co-ordinator, gave a brief introduction about APDCH and various state-of-the-art facilities available in the college. He gave an insight into the accreditations, curriculum requirements, the academic advising process and mentoring system, extracurricular activities, campus placement, IAS and NEET coaching centres in the college.
Few alumni and interns shared their experience about life at APDCH and gave testimonial about the college. They explained about the benefits of choosing APDCH. The senior BDS students took anti-ragging oath that they will not indulge in ragging at the college and hostel campus. The keynote speech was given by our honourable correspondent. He explained the advantages of studying dentistry in APDCH and how to utilize the excellent infrastructure and faculty in the college. He also enlightened the students about being passionate, having goal and working towards achieving our passion.
The chief guest, Ms. RJ Ananthi, shared her previous dental experience and motivated the students to study with commitment and work with discipline to reach higher goals. An audio-visual presentation explaining various departments in dentistry, teaching faculty working in APDCH and scope of dentistry was projected to the audience. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. D. Deivanayagi MDS, Member secretary, Student welfare committee and national anthem. The programme was attended by more than 60 freshers, their parents, undergraduates and postgraduates of APDCH, teaching and non-teaching staff members. A campus tour to Dental and Medical Colleges was organised after lunch so that the freshers can gain an overview of Academic Buildings, Administrative Offices, Hostels, Parking, Dining, Health Care and Other Amenities in Campus. A positive feedback was obtained from the students and parents regarding the infrastructure and hospitality provided in the college.
